 Currently, the World Masters Games 2021 Kansai is scheduled to be held in May 2027 due to negotiations with IMGA

 (International Masters Games Association).

 The 2027 event will be held in consideration of other international competitions that have already been decided.

Tournament policy after re-postponement

・Tournament name: World Masters Games 2027 Kansai

・Holding period: May 14th (Friday) to May 30th (Sunday), 2027(Reiwa 9) (17 days)

・Events: 35 official sports, 59 events

・Venue: Fukui Prefecture, Shiga Prefecture, Kyoto Prefecture, Osaka Prefecture, Hyogo Prefecture (orienteering), Nara Prefecture, Wakayama Prefecture, Tottori Prefecture, Tokushima Prefecture

・Target number of participants: 30,000 in Japan, 20,000 overseas

・Organizer: Public Interest Incorporated Foundation World Masters Games 2021 Kansai Organizing Committee, Prefectural ordinance-designated city executive committee, host municipality executive committee

Climate Info:

 The temperature at the end of May in Japan is mild, and you may feel hot on a sunny day. However, in this period of the year, temperature changes drastically during a day, and you may feel cold on a rainy day; therefore, we recommend that you wear a thin jacket on top of a half sleeve shirt. You will also need a thick jacket, as the orienteering takes place on the mountain. (Uwano Highlands—mountain area in May: average temperature 16.5℃; daily highest temperature 30.1℃; daily lowest temperature 2.8℃) (Kasumi—sea area in May: average temperature 18.0℃; daily highest temperature 32.3℃; daily lowest temperature 7.0℃)

1 About World Masters Games

・It is the world's largest sporting festival, aiming for 50,000 people from 150 countries. (It will be held for the first time in Japan.)

・In general, anyone who is a sports enthusiast aged 30 or older can participate in the tournament. (Let's participate at this opportunity.)

From May 14th (Friday) to 30th (Sunday), 2027 there will be a total of 59 events in 35 competitions in the Kansai area. (You can participate in 5 events at 24,000 yen including tax.)

 35 events, 59 venues and dates(*This is the schedule that was scheduled to be held in 2022. The 2027 event will basically be on the same schedule, based on a sliding schedule.)

2 About orienteering

・Out of the 35 sports, Kami-cho will hold sports: orienteering and events: forest.

・Based on a sliding schedule, the Orienteering Forest Competition is scheduled to be held on May 25 (Tuesday) to 29 (Saturday), 2027 at venues in Kami Town, Yabu City, and Kamikawa Town.

・We aim for 1,500 participants from 40 countries around the world.

From Kansai International Airport to Kobe city(Sprint competition)

・If you come by plane, the most convenient airport for international flights is Kansai International Airport. (In addition, there are also Osaka International Airport, Kobe Airport, Tottori Airport and Tajima Airport)

・From Kansai International Airport to Kobe, there is an airport limousine bus for "Kobe (Sannomiya)" departing from and arriving at Kansai International Airport.

・Airport limousine buses depart from No. 6 on the first floor of Terminal 1 and No. 4 on the first floor of Terminal 2 at Kansai International Airport.


From Kobe city to Kami-cho(Middle Distance Competition Final)

By train

 From JR Kobe Station or JR Sannomiya Station to JR Kasumi Station (Limited Express Hamakaze No.1 is bound for Tottori, No.3 is for Kasumi and No.5 is for Toyooka)

・By bus

 Direct shuttle buses will be provided from JR Kobe Station to JR Kasumi Station for your convenience. JR Kobe Station is the nearest station for the Kobe Event Center, which will be the reception for the orienteering event.

・By car

 From Kobe: Hanshin Expressway Route 32 Shin-Kobe Tunnel (Minotani) → Hanshin Expressway Route 7 Kobe Line (Kobe-Sanda Interchange) → Chugoku Expressway (Yoshikawa JCT.) → Maizuru-Wakasa Expressway (Kasuga Interchange) → Kitakinki-Toyooka Expressway (Hidaka-Kannabe Interchange) → Route 312 → Route 178 Kasumi or Kitakinki-Toyooka Expressway (Yokahyonosen Interchange) → Route 9 Muraoka, Ojiro, Kasumi


From Kami-cho to each venue(Hachi, Sugigasawa, Hachikita, Uwano, and Mineyama)

Shuttle buses will be provided from JR Kasumi Station to each venue. Many hotels in Kami-cho provide a shuttle service to the nearest station.

On the way from JR Kasumi Station to each venue, there is Hachikita Roadside Station. Some hotels in Kami-cho will provide a shuttle service from/to Hachikita Roadside Station.

・Shuttle buses from JR Yoka Station to each venue via Yabu Event Center (Yoka-Tajimanokura Roadside Station) will be operated.

 Participants can select the best-suited lodging facility according to their needs from among a variety of selections of accommodation: near the venue, near the station, to have tasty seafood such as crabs and rosy seabass, to eat Tajima beef (premium-branded beef), old traditional Japanese style, with indoor hot spring baths, and Michelin-starred accommodations.

From Kami-cho or Mineyama Highland to JR Osaka Station

To go to JR Osaka Station, after returning to your accommodation in Kami Town from Mineyama Highlands after the long-distance final, the 16:52,  and 17:50 trains from JR Kasumi would be convenient. (It will take approximately 2 hours 15 minutes by shuttle bus from Mineyama Highlands to JR Kasumi Station.

・The local bus is available from Fukuoka Hachikitaguchi bus stop at 16:45 Approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes by shuttle bus from Mineyama Highlands to Hachikita Roadside Station

To go to JR Osaka Station, after the long-distance final at Mineyama Highlands, the 15:36, 15:45, 16:09 or 16:32 trains from JR Teramae Station would be convenient. Shuttle buses will be operated from Mineyama Highland to JR Terayama. It will be approximately 30 minutes’ ride.


From JR Osaka Station to Osakajo Hall (the venue for the WMG opening ceremony) and to Kansai International Airport

To go to the Osakajo Hall from JR Osaka Station, take the Osaka Loop Line train (outer loop: bound for Kyobashi/Tsurubashi) to Osakajokoen Station (4 stops). It runs approximately every 5 minutes. The fare is 170 yen. When you arrive at JR Osakajokoen Station, you can find the way easily, as you will see the Osakajo Hall.

 

・The airport limousine bus is convenient from JR Osaka Station to Kansai International Airport.

 Limousine buses can be boarded after purchasing a ticket from the front of the south entrance on the 1st floor of the New Hankyu Hotel or from the north side of Herbis Osaka Herbis ENT. Operating hours are approximately 5:00 to 21:30, running every 20 to 40 minutes, and the fare is 1,600 yen.

3. You will cook the wild vegetables you picked  with the owner of the inn. They will teach you the specialty dish  of each inn.

4. Let's take a walk at Tajima Kogen Botanical Garden with an area of 17 ha. Inside, there is a huge Japanese Judas tree of 16m around the trunk, 38m high, and 1000 years old standing in the primeval forest.

5. It is said that the Japanese Judas tree collects water from the roots, and from the roots of this giant tree, 5000 tons of sterile water springs a daily weight. (It is one of Japan's 100 best waters, it is the third beautiful tree in Japan)
